WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley feels Michael Taylor, Kyonn Evans and Josh Emery are all benefiting from their time out on loan at Stourport Swifts.

The trio of St George’s Lane youngsters have been learning their trade at the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West basement boys for much of the campaign.

The City boss considered recalling striker Taylor from his temporary stay at Walshes Meadow, where he has netted eight goals, following the injury to top-scorer Mike Symons.

But Heeley opted against bringing the former Earlswood Town forward back to allow him to get more game-time under his belt.

“There is no benefit in dragging Mike around the country if he is not going to be involved with us,” Heeley said.

“He needs to be playing games and being at Stourport will help him bridge the gap from where he was playing to our level.

“Mike is a raw talent and we need to make sure we harness that.

“He is getting goals for Stourport and it is helping him improve.”

Although Taylor was not on the scoresheet in Swifts last outing, a 2-1 defeat at Bridgwater Town, his City team-mate Evans was.

The midfielder has come up through the ranks at St George’s Lane and made seven appearances for City last season, including two starts, while former Cheltenham Town youngster Emery and left-back Shabir Khan are also at the Meadow.

“Kyonn and Josh are both playing regularly at Stourport and, like Mike, they can only benefit from that,” Heeley said.

“But Shab is still making his way back from the serious knee injury he had last season so we are taking our time with him.”
