A WOMAN caught drink driving has been banned from driving for 12 months.

Selena Dance, aged 39, of Fern Drive, Malvern, was caught driving with 97mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood - the legal limit is 80mg - at 12.50am on Saturday, October 1.

Kerry Lovegrove, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said police on mobile patrol were forced to brake sharply when Dance’s Peugeot 206 pulled out in front of them.

When police spoke to Dance her eyes were glazed and her speech was slurred.

A road-side breath test was positive and Dance was taken to Worcester police station where she was offered to replace the breath test with a blood sample.

Dance admitted drink driving when she appeared before magistrates.

Barry Newtown, defending, said Dance had gone to the pub with her partner after following a eight-day stretch in her job as a support worker.

He said: “She had a couple of pints but had not eaten.

“She thought she would be okay to drive, but obviously she wasn’t.”

As well as the disqualification, Dance was fined £200, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
