THE funeral of a former Worcester city councillor, who had also worked as a press officer for prime minister Harold Wilson during his time in 10 Downing Street, is to be held on Thursday.
Family and friends are expected to pack Worcester Crematorium to pay their respects to David Candler.
The 71-year-old of Foley Road, St John’s, Worcester, collapsed and died in London Road, Worcester, while on his way to a Worcester Community Trust meeting on December 13.
Tributes from across the political spectrum have been paid to Mr Candler, who dedicated his life to the Labour Party, which he joined aged 17.
He represented the city’s St John’s ward between 2003 and 2010. when he stepped down.
The service will be held at 2.30pm.
