YOUNGSTERS have celebrated the end of pantomime season with their own version of a wrap party at a Worcester restaurant.

The girls aged from seven to 15 from Academy Dance met at Detroit’s, in Castle Street, to celebrate the end of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Swan Theatre.

The 24 dancers started rehearsing in September with Helen Leek, principal of Academy Dance and choreographer for the Jack and the Beanstalk production.

They worked alongside the rest of cast and professional dancers provided by Worcester Live They first rehearsed once a week but in the run up to the start of the 54-show pantomime they were dancing every night.

Some of the girls also had the chance to show off their moves to the Duke of Wessex, who visited the theatre in December.

Wendy White, whose daughters Emily, aged 11, and Lucy, aged eight, danced in the production, said: “All the girls had a fantastic time.

“It was a great experience and they worked really, really hard. They just loved performing in front of an audience.”
