A HISTORIC Worcestershire hotel has been sold to new owners.
The Bank House Hotel in Bransford, near Worcester, was put on the market by hotel chain Brook Hotels, but the identity of the buyer is not yet known.
A source at Brook said the sale would not affect the running of the hotel or Bransford Golf Course.
Yesterday, staff refused to comment other than to confirm the three-star establishment had been sold.
The Bank House Hotel, Golf and Country Club was built at the time of Charles I in about 1630.
According to its website, the hotel has 68 ensuite bedrooms, as well as Farthings restaurant and six conference suites.
In 2006, the future of the listed building hung in the balance when its then owners, London and Edinburgh Swallow Group, went into administration.
Brook Hotels stepped in, saving the jobs of about 50 staff Two years later, controversial plans to keep and landscape earth dumped onto the site were thrown out by Malvern Hills District Council. Its Florida-style golf course features 14 lakes and is 6,204 yards in length.
