THIEVES broke into a village post office and emptied a safe containing British cash and foreign currency.

The raiders broke into a house on Kemerton Road, Kemerton, near Tewkesbury, at around 4.45am on Saturday morning to break into the post office.

They made off with an unknown amount of cash and Euros, which were taken from within a safe, and a quantity of stamps.

Detective Constable Kelly Browning said: “Forensic officers have been at the property and detectives are currently reviewing CCTV.

“If anybody saw any suspicious activity or vehicles in Kemerton in the week prior to the burglary we would like to hear from them.”

Kemerton Post Office re-opened for business on Tuesday after the weekend burglary.
