ROBBERS punched a cyclist in his head and stomach and put him in a headlock before stealing his bike and mobile phone.

The victim was cycling up Rainbow Hill, Worcester, at about 8.45pm on Saturday (28) when two men stopped him near the top of the hill.

As he slowed down, the first man punched the victim, knocking him off his bicycle.

The second man then put the victim in a headlock which caused the victim to drop his mobile phone.

The pair continued to attack the cyclist, before taking his phone and bicycle and walking off towards Vicar Street.

The first man is described as white, aged 16 to 20, 5ft 6ins to 5ft 10ins tall, of a very slim build, with short blonde hair.

He was wearing dark blue denim jeans, a shiny, lightweight dark-coloured sports jacket with a hood and a dark baseball cap.

The second man was also white, aged 16 to 23, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall and of a large, stocky build with a round face.

He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a hooded top.

Det Cons Zoey Carter, from Worcester police station, said: “This was a totally unprovoked attack where the offenders have subjected their victim to a rather nasty assault in order to steal just a couple of relatively inexpensive items.

“The bike and mobile phone are still outstanding and we are keen to find them in order to trace those responsible.

“The bicycle is a distinctive X-Rated BMX. It has lime green pedals, black handle bars, black seat and a white frame with an ‘X-Rated' logo sticker across it.

“The phone is an LG Cookie in silver which has no back to it and is scratched.

“I would appeal to anyone who knows the whereabouts of these items, saw the incident take place or recognises the offenders from the descriptions given to contact us as soon as they can.”
