A TEENAGER punched a former classmate during a bust-up in a Worcester nightclub, knocking out two of his front teeth.
Scott Grady, aged 18, of Canterbury Road, Ronks-wood, Worcester, admitted assault by beating.
Worcester magistrates were told the victim – Zachary O’Neill – had undergone £6,000 of dental work as a result of the attack, and would need dentures for the rest of his life.
Liam Finch, prosecuting, said at about 2.30am on Sunday, October 30, Mr O’Neill was in Tramps nightclub when he was punched.
Mr Finch said: “He looked up and saw a fist coming towards his face which then hit his lip. He recognised the person as Scott Grady.
“His friend saw Mr O’Neill was injured and there was a lot of blood and took him to the toilets to clean him up.
"Having assaulted him once upstairs, he was then assaulted again in the toilet area.”
Mr Finch told the court: “Being a young man, he is not thrilled with having to live with dentures for the rest of his life.”
Mark Lister, defending, said: “Scott Grady accepts the single punch. He accepts there was a further incident in the toilet and that he was the one who initiated that.
"It’s difficult to know how much of the £6,000 is down to the incident in October. He is a young man who hasn’t been in trouble before.”
District judge Nigel Cadbury sentenced Grady to 12 weeks in youth custody, suspended for 12 months and fined £500 for compensation.
Grady was given a curfew from 11pm to 7am on Tuesday until Saturday when he works shifts, and from 8pm to 7am on Sunday and Monday.
