VOLUNTEERS rolled up their sleeves on Saturday to help rejuvenate an overgrown orchard in Worcester.
The volunteer day to clear Trotshill Community Orchard Project, off Trotshill Lane East, was part of Worcester City Council’s Wildlife Rangers project to restore and maintain the orchard.
It contains apple, pear, plum and mulberry trees and was established about 20 years ago.
Heather Bainbridge, city council assistant ranger, said: “We are trying to recruit a group of local people who could take part in the project.
“Activities could include regular practical maintenance days, identifying fruit varieties, pruning and, of course, picking and pressing.
“We would also like to research and record the history of the site.”
The rangers will be holding a hedgelaying training day at New Plantation in Plantation Drive, Warndon Villages, on Thursday. Visit worcester.gov.uk/parks
