PANCAKE RACE: Malvern Rotary Club members David Highmore, Mike Cooke, Sandy Gibson, and Brian Curtis PANCAKE RACE: Malvern Rotary Club members David Highmore, Mike Cooke, Sandy Gibson, and Brian Curtis

THESE Malvern Rotarians were caught in the act getting some practice in ahead of their pancake race in the town centre next week.

Teams will line up in Priory Park at 12.30pm on Tuesday for the fund-raising extravaganza, now in its fifth year.

The event is open to teams of four, who must all be aged over 15.

A series of relay-style knockout heats will see each team member navigating their way around a short course armed with a pan and the Rotary club’s secret “indestructible” pancakes.

High-placing teams will progress in the competition, with prizes on offer for the best elite team (average age under 50) and best veteran team (average age over 50).

There will also be prizes for the team with the best fancy dress and the most-sponsored team.

Charities entering teams into the pancake race can retain 100 per cent of sponsorship for their own cause.

Teams not directly from a charity can nominate 50 per cent of their sponsorship to a cause of their choice, with the other half used to support local initiatives.

For entry forms visit Malvern Library, the tourist information, or call 01684 862430.
