England manager Fabio Capello quits - ballot

SHOCK: Fabio Capello SHOCK: Fabio Capello

Fabio Capello has quit as England manager, the Football Association announced tonight.

Capello resigned following a meeting with FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne at Wembley Stadium.

An FA statement read: "The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England manager."

The statement went on: "This follows a meeting involving FA chairman David Bernstein, FA general secretary Alex Horne and Fabio Capello at Wembley Stadium.

"The discussions focused on the FA board's decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello's response through an Italian broadcast interview.

"In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio's resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England manager with immediate effect."

Bernstein said the resignation was the right course of action.

The FA chairman said: "I would like to stress that during today's meeting and throughout his time as England manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner.

"We have accepted Fabio's resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future."

Bernstein and the Club England management team will hold a media conference at Wembley at 12 noon on Thursday.

Football is a game full of opinions. That's OK as long as you don't tell anyone what they are!!

I think he will mostly be remembered for the shambolic mismanagement of the 2010 World Cup campaign.

I am confused as to who makes decisions concerning the team. In my view it should be the Coach. After all Capello got all the bad publicity when the Terry situation blew up previously. He had every right to complain when the F A went over his head, regardless of his own quality as Coach. Sheriffs and cowboys obviously.

Lets hope this so-called FA will now engage an English manager.
I fully support the rumors about it being Harry Redknapp, but my son a Spurs fan is also concerned about his club.

I think he'll be more remembered for his £6 million a year salary.

Capello was entitled to his opinion, the FA has its self to blame as they have no guts, Terry should stand down as he is causing so much negative feel around the team with whats going on and its obviousley serious enough to be going to court, Capello weather you like him or not did a decent job with our overpaid fairies and with the useless FA who couldnt organise a P UP in a brewery he was always on a loser.

The press also keep sticking there oar in thats why i dont buy papers anymore as its full of someones opinion not fact.

The FA, the English rugby union board, English lawn tennis association all
as incompetent and all manipulated by the press.
I have no respect for the management of these major sports.
Look at the money that has been sunk into all 3 of these sports and what have we got ?
Does anyone know of a sports journalist that has succeeded in any of these sports in a management capacity ?
Best thing for JT ?
I suggest that he lets the prima donnas get on with it and makes himself unavailable to the FA

Can we have an option in the poll for "I really don't give a monkeys about the whole thing"

More interesting if it were about Europe Paul?
But lets also add our disgraced Cricketers, who on their showing in Pakistan should NOT BE PAID, but they will get their large salaries and have acted as if they were on holiday. Until all sports people are payed according to performances we will always see such sad National performances as we do.
But all the governing bodies such as the FA, Cricket Board and any others seemingly successfully engaged in National Failure should be sacked.

Yesterday....."Capel

Today......"Capello'

Hope Harry turns it down as he may be a good team manager and a likeable rouge but he really hasnt won much, i like him dont get me wrong but O'Niel would be better he has achieved far more.

M Oneil has too much sense to do this.
Harry needs to get the money out of the country !
Best bet for safety might be Hodgson .
But , what has he won ?
We need a 'winning' coach and the only one that I can think of at the moment is .....Sir Clive !

There is an outstanding candidate for the vacant England job - Carl Heeley - please keep this fact away from the FA - we need him !

Capello was undermind, he was not supporting rascism at all, as you are innocent till proven guilty arent you? BUT the FA as usual sat on the fence waiting for the press to tell them what to do, they should have told Terry if he had anything about him to stand down from the team as its having a bad effect on everyone i would have thought,

The main question is though does the Football Competition come before the court proceedings ?? It shouldnt have taken so long to get to court but then the legal people want to get there fees out of this.
