DIVERS swapped snorkels for cycling gear to raise more than £1,500 for charity.
Members of Worcester Divers’ covered 106 miles in four-and-a-half hours by pedalling on static bikes outside Café Vienna in CrownGate.
The group raised £1,516 for Acorns Hospice, which has a centre at Bath Road in Worcester.
Diver Claire Snead said: “The event would not have been such a success without Stuart Summers at Worcester Cycle Centre who kindly donated the two bikes and, of course, Ashley Quinn who runs Café Vienna.
“Thanks, too, to all the members of the public who gave so generously on the day and cheered us on and all the individual sponsorship money that we received from friends, colleagues and relatives.”
Acorns fund-raiser Carole Crowe said: “This was a fantastic challenge to take on and a wonderful amount raised – enough to pay for a family to spend two weeks at the hospice while their child is being cared for.
“We rely on voluntary income for the majority of the money required to run the hospices so support like this is absolutely essential.
"I’d like to say a huge thank you on behalf of everyone at Acorns.”
Worcester Divers is a non-profit making club and is affiliated to the British Sub Aqua Club.
