MEMBERS of Parliament in Worcestershire and Herefordshire have been left out of the latest BT phone book.

Instead of listing the current holders of four local seats, the book gives the names and numbers of the MPs who held them before the 2010 election - none of whom are still in the House of Commons.

As MP for Worcester, the book names Labour’s Mike Foster, instead of Conservative Robin Walker, who defeated him in 2010.

Mr Walker said: “It’s ironic, because one of the things I’m most concerned about is getting faster broadband for Worcester, and I’ve been talking to people in BT about that. So clearly part of BT knows who the MP for Worcester is, but there’s obviously been no contact between them and whoever puts the phone book together.”

The book also lists Sir Michael Spicer as West Worcestershire MP instead of Harriet Baldwin, Dr Richard Taylor in Wyre Forest instead of Mark Garnier, and Paul Keetch at Hereford, not Jesse Norman.

BT spokesman Emma Tennant said: “BT Phone Books takes all of its information from telephone companies and communications service providers, and the onus is on all their customers to update their details. We have investigated and are satisfied BT is not at fault in this case.”

She said BT will be contacting the affected MPs to discuss the matter.
