TWO friends from Malvern proved they have a keen sense of adventure by completing a 24-hour challenge.

Dyson Perrins CE Academy pupils Alicia Fallows, aged 15, and Jessica McManus, 16, were tied at the wrists and ankles for 24 hours to raise money for a four-week expedition to Kenya during the summer.

Not happy with taking the easy option, the pair took to the centre of Worcester and even scaled the heights of the Worcestershire Beacon while connected like Siamese twins.

They added a further £120 towards their target of £3,480, taking their total to more than £2,600 each.

Alicia said they remained in good spirits despite collecting a few bumps and bruises along the way.

“We kept each other happy and entertained and it was quite amusing anyway. Funny things happen when you are tied together, such as head-butting each other and falling over.

“The hardest part about it was simply not being able to do normal everyday things. Also, we came out with several bruises round our ankles afterwards as walking became quite painful on the second day.

“When we climbed the Beacon people were highly supportive and asked us plenty of questions about our expedition. It made us very happy.” The charity is an award-winning expedition specialist offering life-changing responsible travel opportunities throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America.
