A CANCER sufferer who was burgled in the middle of the night is hoping Worcester News readers can help him get his car back.

Thieves broke into Peter Chadwick’s home through a patio door while he slept during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

They stole a laptop computer, mobile phone, watch and the keys to his blue Vauxhall Tigra, registration number S278 JGG.

The vehicle was then stolen from the car park at his property in Lowesmoor, Worcester, and has not been found.

Mr Chadwick underwent radiotherapy treatment and surgery last year after he was diagnosed with a highly aggressive form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2010.

The 57-year-old needs his car to attend medical appointments and uses it to take out his elderly mother as she struggles to walk.

The father-of-four, who also sometimes suffers from muscle spasms which can cause his legs to give way, said the burglary had left him feeling “depressed and down”.

“I could do without it at the moment,” said Mr Chadwick, who worked in the building trade before he fell ill. “I was in bed when it happened. When I got up as usual at 9am I made myself a cup of tea.

“I looked over at the table and I thought ‘something’s missing’. My laptop had gone. I looked for my phone and I couldn’t find it.

“Then I noticed my keys and watch had gone. I just want my car back.”

The grandfather-of-one hopes Worcester News readers who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between midnight and 9am on Tuesday will contact police.

He has also asked for his friends and family to get in touch with him as his mobile phone contained all of his contact numbers.

PC Kate Anderson, from the Worcester burglary team, said: “Bearing in mind Mr Chadwick’s medical condition this is a particularly distressing offence.

“I hope the offender or someone with knowledge will have the decency to assist in the return of Mr Chadwick’s property.”
