A BRAVE girl who has had more than 50 brain operations is about to see her dream come true with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Disneyland.

Georgia Bristow, aged 10, wants to have breakfast with Cinderella at the resort in Paris, and thanks to the generosity of family and friends she is close to living her dream. The youngster, from Warndon, Worcester, who has battled health problems all her life, hopes to fly out with her family to the resort for a weekend at the end of next month (April).

Georgia’s mum Sharon, dad Simon, seven-year-old brother William, aunts Lisa Smith and Marie Smith and nan Mandy Smith are going with her.

Georgia was born at just 27 weeks because her mum Sharon had pre-eclampsia. Georgia was diagnosed with meningitis at just four days old and when she pulled through she was found to have hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain) which has resulted in heart problems, severe epilepsy and balance, joint and mobility problems. She has had 54 brain surgeries at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and used to suffer 200 seizures a day but this has now been reduced.

Her mum Sharon Bristow said: “She is a brave girl who tackles everything with a smile. The trip to Disneyland is keeping her going, keeping her focused. The last six months has been a massive struggle. The support has been mind-blowing.”

Friends and family have now raised £3,000 towards the cost of the trip and Georgia’s mum Sharon said she was ‘bowled over’ by a surprise fundraising event organised by her sister, Georgia’s aunt Lisa Smith, who works at the Diabetes Centre at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Around 200 people attended the event which included a race night, raffle and auction at Norton Parish Hall last month.

Georgia and members of her family were picked up in a Baby Bentley limo and Georgia was bought a new dress so she looked like a princess for the day.

Mrs Bristow, aged 31, said: “I have been promising I would take her to Disneyland for the last 10 years. Now, after 10 years, her dream is coming true. She wants to have breakfast with Cinderella.”
