TWO kind-hearted teenagers from America gave a helping hand at St Richard’s Hospice.

Hattie Wanning, aged 16, and her friend Melissa Sheehan, 18, have travelled from Maine to stay with Hattie’s aunt Maggie Duffield in Lower Wick, Worcester, as part of a volunteer trip.

Mrs Duffield is the area manager for St Richard’s shops and is manager of the shop at Malvern Link.

The girls have been busy helping out at the charity’s bookshop and warehouse, as well as in the fund-raising department. They did much of the fund-raising themselves to pay for their volunteer trip including making sweets, collecting bottles and knitting scarves to sell. Miss Wanning visits England once a year, but it was the first time Miss Sheehan left America.
