POLICE in Droitwich are reminding people to lock doors and windows to protect their homes against burglars.

The warning comes after a house on Woodmans Close was burgled over the weekend, after the owners left their front and back doors insecure when they went to bed.

The burglary happened between 11pm on Sunday, April 8, and 8am on Monday, April 9.

An orange Toshiba laptop, handbag, two wallets containing various cards and a small quantity of cash were stolen during the incident.

Detective Sergeant Dave Knight from Worcester CID said: “Since the beginning of March there have been a number of burglaries on the Westlands Estate.

“More than half of these were sneak-in burglaries, which may have been prevented if the homeowners had taken steps to secure their properties.

“I cannot stress enough how important it is to lock your doors and windows so opportunistic thieves do not get the chance to part you from your belongings.

“I would urge anyone with any information about this burglary or any of the other sneak-in burglaries on the Westlands Estate, to contact us as soon as possible.”

Call Det Sgt Knight on 0300 3333000, quoting 111S 090412 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
