A FATHER and daughter from St Peter’s will be going up Wembley Way this weekend after winning tickets to see the semi-final of the oldest cup competition in the world.

Football fan Chris Obern, of Queen’s Wood Drive, will be in the stands for the FA Cup tie between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea on Sunday while his daughter Lauren takes to the field as an official mascot.

The 10-year-old Cherry Orchard Primary School pupil will line-up alongside household names such as Gareth Bale, Ledley King and Emmanuel Adebayor as they walk out onto the hallowed turf beneath the iconic arch for a 6pm kick-off.

Mr Obern, aged 38, who entered the competition on Facebook and supports Spurs, is hoping his side will win 3-1, with two goals from Bale and one from Adebayor.

“It will be one of those days you will never forget. I don’t think it has really hit home yet.

"I entered the competition and didn’t hear anything for a while and all of a sudden it popped up on an e-mail. It was quite a shock.

“She’s not really a football fan but I think she will be after the day. She is quite tall, so hopefully she doesn’t get lined up with Jermaine Defoe.”

They will be going armed with an autograph book and cameras to capture moments from the day.

The first FA Cup competition ran in the 1871-72 season with just 15 entries, compared to more than 700 taking part this season.

The new Wembley hosted its first final in 2007 between Chelsea and Man United, with the former recording a 1-0 victory.
