SIR – I would like to comment, if I may, on the new Asda store that is in place at the old vinegar factory in Lowesmoor, Worcester.

I took a stroll around, but not to buy.

How can Asda advertise on TV and say to the customer that they can make make big savings if they shop with them is well beyond me.

I wrote down just 10 items I regularly get from Aldi which is only 100 yards away in Worcester.

I brought 10 items from Aldi on Good Friday for £8.59. The same 10 items from Asda would have cost £14.72.

So why the rush to Asda?

If the public want to save on their shopping, I would think twice before going to Asda.

I’m sure the same thoughts will occur to other shoppers once the interest in the new store has worn off.

The public will endeavour to shop where it’s cheapest.
