SOMETHING’S got to give when Worcester Warriors and Exeter Chiefs meet at Sixways in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday (3pm).

Since the turn of the year, Warriors have made Sixways their fortress and are yet to taste defeat on home soil in 2012.

However, the Chiefs are the Premiership’s kings of the road as they have not lost away from home in 2012.

So, with two proud records on the line, it is difficult to predict how the match will pan out – maybe the draw is the most likely outcome.

Another odd quirk of recent results could point in Worces-ter’s favour, though, as in all of Warriors’ last 11 matches in all competitions, the home side on the day has won.

Warriors head coach Richard Hill said: “There is huge incentive and no lack of motivation for our final two home games of the season as we look to remain unbeaten here in 2012 and continue to make Sixways a difficult place for opposition teams to visit. We started our preparations for Exeter last week and looked to get ahead of the game because we knew the Chiefs had a big fixture against Stade Francais in the quarter-final of the Amlin Challenge Cup.

“We had the advantage of having more time to work on our attack and defence strategy and theory work so we could ensure we started with a real bang in the countdown to the game this week.”

Surprise package Exeter are pushing hard for a top-four spot and Hill has been impressed by what Rob Baxter’s men have achieved.

He said: “Exeter have certainly backed up the performances of last year when they raised the bar for any club coming up from the Championship by finishing eighth.

“Some people suggested they might drop off and not be able to sustain it, but they have gone from strength to strength and are playing with real confidence.

“Rob and his coaching staff have done an excellent job and one of their strengths is that they always work very hard for each other with huge fitness levels.

“They are hitting form right at the end of the season so it becomes a very stern test for us.

“When we played at Sandy Park earlier in the season, the Chiefs totally changed their tactics against us.

“Before that fixture they had played a very efficient pack of forwards and kicked a lot of possession so our plan was to keep it tight around the rucks and the breakdowns and defend their big forward runners.

“However, on the day, they played with huge width to catch us a little bit by surprise. We ran them close to claim a losing bonus point and it will be interesting to see what approach they adopt as they seek the win they need to get into the top four.”
