STAFF at a Worcester care home braved everything the elements threw at them when they took part in a sponsored walk.

A team from Regent Care Home, School Road, St John’s, run by Sanctuary Care, paced the 10 miles to the Camp Inn at Grimley and back.

After experiencing thunder, lightning and torrential rain along the way they collected £350 to revamp the garden and build raised flower beds.

Acting manager Laura Wilkes said: “The team are so dedicated and we had great fun getting soaking wet and listening to the thunder as we marched along. One of the girls even fell over in the mud.

“We are so grateful to all of those people who sponsored us and helped us to raise such a fantastic amount to create a wonderful area that all of our residents can enjoy.

“We have a lovely garden at Regent but need raised beds as our residents love to tend the flowers.

“This will allow everyone, including those in wheelchairs, to enjoy gardening.”
