A SCULPTOR from West Malvern has been offered the chance to join the prestigious Royal British Society of Sculptors.

Caro Sweet is the only woman artist in Worcestershire to have been extended the privilege.

Her highly sought-after pieces can be found the world over, including within sculpture parks in the US, and it is likely membership of the RBS, whose patron is Queen Elizabeth II, will result in greater demand for her work.

She said: “It is a great honour and I feel thrilled to have this recognition of my work.

“Sculpture can often be a little inaccessible to people. I’d like to think the way I work – using gear equally as at home in a foundry as an artist’s studio – is easy for anyone to get their head around.

“My work combines sensuality, the celebration of life and transcendence of death, as well as a twinkle in the eye – be that from happiness or from tears of emotion.”
