A SUMMER open day at a village butchers has raised more than £700 for Diabetes UK.

Checketts of Ombersley held the Summer Sensation event on Saturday, May 5.

A host of attractions entertained visitors of all ages. The theme for the day was ‘Best of British’ with staff on hand to help with ideas for summer menu ideas, jubilee parties, picnics and barbecues. Visitors had the opportunity to sample tasters of Checketts’ award winning products and to build ideas for picnic hampers and platters.

Juckes of Worcester offered wine tasting, with samples of wines from their extensive range.

“We weren’t sure if the rain would put a dampener on the day, but the turnout was excellent and the rain stayed away,” said event organiser Rachel Checketts.

A happy customer, Dawn Rose, said: “There was something for everyone. The kids loved the Punch and Judy show, it was a real step back in time for us and we picked up some great ideas for planning summer picnics and my husband enjoyed the wine tasting.”
