FOUR 16-year-old Worcester club paddlers have been selected by the British Canoe Union to compete in the international Ghent Regatta.
William Bird, Simon Williams, Rob Griffiths and Russel Woolley will race in Copenhagen, Denmark, next weekend over sprints of 200 metres, 500m and 1,000m.
The dedicated quartet train at the Grandstand Road club at least once a day, often before school, concentrating on perfecting technique on the water and building strength in the gym.
Despite the weather, they have continued to train and compete in the May Regatta sprints in Nottingham this weekend.
Griffiths and Woolley both attend Droitwich Spa High School, while Bird goes to Blessed Edward Oldcorne College and Williams is at Bishop Perowne College.
