TWO elderly residents have been evacuated after a fire broke out in the kitchen of their Worcestershire Flat.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a fire alarm at Rowan Court sheltered housing, in Worcester Road, Droitwich, at 7.10am this morning.
This was followed by a call from the property confirming a fire had broken out in a cooker at one of the flats.
Two fire crews and the station commander from Droitwich attended and used two breathing apparatus, one hosereel and a dry powder extinguisher to put out the fire.
They remain on site ventilating the flat and a corridor, which are heavily smoke logged.
The two residents were evacuated before fire crews arrived.
