CHILDREN have released balloons to celebrate a new vision for their school.

Pupils from Warndon Primary School, Worcester, launched 500 balloons carrying a message of hope for the future of their school.

As we previously reported, the school, in Edgeworth Close, Warndon, was put into special measures in June 2011 after Ofsted inspectors said standards had fallen.

Acting head Di Smith said the vision was the culmination of collaborative work by children, parents and governors from which the school would continue to improve and move forward.

The 500 balloons each carried the message ‘Together we can make it happen when we are a proud team, feel happy, safe and trust each other, enjoy our learning, are able to make choices and express ourselves, take responsibility and make progress, build supportive relationships, have fun, are successful and confident individuals, gain skills for the future and smile.’ Deputy head Sarah Allen said: “The best thing was watching the children pull it together.

"Everyone with a say in the school contributed to the vision.

“We’ve already had phone calls from two people who found balloons. One balloon was found in Northampton and one in Derby.”
