A MOTORCYCLIST killed in a road crash is believed to have been a young man in his 20s.

Police want to trace witnesses witnesses after the fatal accident on the A451 between Dunley and Great Witley which happened at about 5.20pm on Friday, May 11.

The man was riding a black Yamaha motorbike, and was involved in a collision with a grey Land Rover Discovery.

The rider has not yet formally been identified but is believed to be from the Stourport area.

PC Nick Gimbert said: "It is believed the motorcycle was travelling towards Dunley when the rider came off his bike.

"The Land Rover - which was travelling in the opposite direction towards Great Witley - has then collided with the motorcyclist.

"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the paramedics to resuscitate the rider, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We are conducting an investigation into the circumstances and I would appeal for anyone who saw the incident, or either of the vehicles in the time leading up to the crash to get in touch."

A post mortem is expected to be held later this week and an inquest will be opened in due course.

Anyone with information should call PC Gimbert on 0300 333 3000, quoting 491/S/110512.
