A RIGHT royal weekend of celebration will help to raise vital funds for a charity supporting poorly children.

The Mayor of Malvern, Councillor Ian Hopwood, is hosting a charity ball on Friday, June 1, a Diamond Jubilee parade on Saturday, June 2, and a jubilee fun day at Priory Park, Malvern on Monday, June 4, all in aid of the Acorns Children’s Hospice in Bath Road, Worcester.

The hospice is also people will take part in the national Big Jubilee Lunch - a one day neighbourly get-together - on Sunday, June 3, and help them raise even more.

Carole Crowe, community fundraising manager at Acorns, said: “The Mayor’s black tie Diamond Jubilee charity ball promises to be a glittering occasion with a three course meal, live band, cabaret and pianist.

“The whole family can join in the celebrations too at the jubilee fun day which will be buzzing with bands, maypole dancing, a Victorian roundabout, circus acts and face painting to name a few.

“Throwing a Big Jubilee Lunch with friends and neighbours is another fantastic way to celebrate and help raise money for Acorns.

"It’s easy – everyone can bring a dish and children love making decorations and bunting.

"We can offer support and advice with fundraising ideas, balloons, banners and merchandise.

“We hope people will feel inspired to kindle community spirit this summer and come along to these events or hold their own.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the Jubilee and help raise vital funds for local life-limited children.”

Tickets cost £35 for the charity ball and to book email ian.hopwood@tiscali.co.uk

Entrance to the jubilee fun day is free.
