A FORMER Worcester schoolgirl has spent time in the studio rubbing shoulders with one of the UK’s up-and-coming producers.

Claire-Louise Rossi, who attended Bishop Perowne and Worcester Sixth Form College, won the chance to collaborate with Labrinth through the Masters of Sound competition run in conjunction with audio specialists Sennheiser and Talenthouse, an online community for artists.

The 28-year-old, who now lives in London but her family still live in Warndon Villages, revelled in her studio time with the 23-year-old producer, singer and writer.

Miss Rossi, who currently gigs as a cover artist and describes her style as a mix of pop and soul, is hoping the experience can open the doors to the industry.

She said: “I entered a piece of original music and he chose me to work with.

"It has totally raised my profile. This year I wanted to concentrate on my original music and it has just happened really quickly for me.

“He created three different versions of the track and every variation was amazing.

"He said, ‘Leave it to me to decide which production works best on your track’.

“When you meet these celebrities you don’t know what they are going to be like but he was normal, really down to earth and an amazing person.”

Miss Rossi has more high-profile events to look forward to after being chosen to dance at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics on Friday, July 27.

“I’m really looking forward to it, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of something like that.

“It’s been going really well for me, I’m trying to juggle everything – gigs, my original stuff and the Olympics. I want to carry on performing and work with the right people.”

People in Worcester will soon get a chance to see Labrinth when he parties in front of thousands at the Olympic Torch relay evening celebrations held at the Worcestershire county cricket ground in New Road on Thursday.
