THE future of Worcestershire’s largest village will be up for discussion as a new plan is thrashed out.

Kempsey parish councillors heard there was £20,000 of pilot funding in the kitty for the village near Worcester to work out its new neighbourhood development plan (NDP) – a new part of the recently enacted Local-ism Act 2011.

Malvern Hills District Council is holding the money and will release it once the village has a working party to draw up the plan.

Coun Rob Austin said the parish council needed “to get behind” the plan and help form the working party with other local groups such as the primary school and interested parties including Kemp-sey Flood Action Group.

But he said that the NDP cannot contradict the South Worcestershire Development Plan, the wider blueprint for delivering thousands of new homes over the next generation.

The measure to set up the working party was agreed by parish councillors last week.
