YOUNG people aged 14-25 are being offered the opportunity to enjoy ice skating on the cheap this summer.

Malvern Hills District Council is sponsoring the activity with the County Sports Partnership as part of Sport England’s new Sportivate initiative.

The six-week course at Ice Quest, Spring Lane North, consists of weekly 30-minute ice skating lessons for beginners.

The sessions cover the basics of ice skating with instruction from a qualified coach.

There are a maximum of 15 spaces for each of the two age groups, so book soon to avoid disappointment.

The courses begin on the Wednesday, June 13, and cost just £15 for six weeks. Sessions for ages 14-16 are at 6pm, and for 17-25s at 6.30pm.

Coun Phil Grove said: “This is a great opportunity for young people to try out a new sport and learn new skills they may have previously never thought they would get the chance to.

“The council’s Sport Inspired programme offers children and young people regular opportunities to take part in sport and be inspired in the build up to the Olympics.”
