A WORCESTER hospice has received more than £4,000 thanks to the opening of a new city supermarket.

Asda presented St Richard’s Hospice with the cheque for £4,146.85 on Friday.

The store raised the money at its guess the savings game show, which encouraged customers to see how they can save by taking advantage of Asda’s guarantee to be 10 per cent cheaper than its competitors or it will refund the difference.

The saving across the three days was added up, multiplied and donated to St Richard’s Hospice.

Asda Worcester general store manager, Richard Kennea, said: “The road show is a fun way to show our customers we are serious about our price guarantee.

"By being able to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice at the same time, we can ensure this saving also goes to a great cause, one which provides essential and first-class support to the people of Worcestershire.”

Rachel Jones, corporate fund-raiser at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “This is a fantastic amount for Asda to donate to St Richard’s.

"We are very grateful for their support.”
