A MAN has been seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Bromsgrove.

The incident happened on Hewell Lane in Tardebigge at 11.45am today (Monday).

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer, a senior paramedic officer, a medic and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT emergency doctor were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a crash involving two cars. One car had significant damage and intrusion to the drivers’ side and foot well.

“The driver, a man thought to be in his 30s, had pain and tenderness in his abdomen. Ambulance crews and the doctors worked to fully assess the man’s injuries who suspected he had suffered a fractured pelvis and had internal bleeding. The man had to be extricated from the vehicle with help from the fire service whilst he continued to receive medical treatment.

“The man was given pain relief and carefully immobilised with a spinal board and pelvic splint before being taken by land ambulance on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, the regions specialist trauma centre, for further assessment and treatment.”
