A TALENTED singer from Bewdley who was knocked out of the live semi-finals of BBC TV’s The Voice hopes this is just the beginning of a bright future.

Becky Hill, the 18-year-old coached by Jessie J, departed yesterday with Ruth Brown, Max Milner and Jaz Ellington after failing to get enough public votes.

During Saturday’s show she performed the Corinne Bailey Rae song Like A Star.

Tom Jones said: “You surprised me tonight. You have a wonderful tone to your voice. I love it.”

Becky said she had met some amazing people and made some friends for life.

She said: “I have also learned you have got to be your own artist and work hard for what you want, that everything can’t be fun.

"I have enjoyed every second. This is just going to be the start for me.”

Becky, who is now deciding what to do next, has written music since she was 15.

She will be involved in The Voice tour in September. She said: “I have done a lot of crying but it wasn’t because I went out of the competition.

"It was because my Voice journey was over. I have so much love for my fans. I really appreciate it.”

The live finalists next week are Tyler James for Team Will, Vince Kidd for Team Jessie, Leanne Mitchell for Team Tom and Bo Bruce for Team Danny.

The live final is on BBC1 on Saturday at 7.20pm.
