SIR – There appears to be a bit of sour grapes going around on the Worcester News letters page regarding Chelsea’s Champions League triumph last month. Firstly, let’s remember this is an English club winning the trophy and they now stand alongside past English winners.
Why was it considered by some to be so strange for this Chelsea team to win it?
Yes, they did it the hard way, but it appears some say it was just down to luck.
The letter by L Presley ‘Enjoy it, Chelsea, as win was one-off’ (Worcester News, May 25) seems to have more than an hint of jealousy in it.
He says they did it with a Russian owner, Italian manager and many foreign players.
How true, yet how is that different to the Manchester United set-up? They have a Scottish manager, American owners and a decent amount of foreign players. At the end of the day, Mr Presley, your team wasn’t good enough to win a trophy this year.
