A DRAMATIC rescue unfolded near Pershore yesterday when a car became trapped in high waters.
Firefighters from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to Walcot Lane in Drakes Broughton just before midday following reports a man was stranded in his car in a flooded ford.
Water First Responder crews from Pershore and Malvern and the rescue boats from Worcester and Evesham attended and used an inflatable path to bring the motorist from his vehicle to safety by 12.20pm.
Station Commander Bob Sproat warned residents river levels are higher than usual for the time of year and extra care was needed.
He urged motorists to avoid driving through flood water which may be faster flowing and deeper than it looks and may hide open drains or collapsed culverts.
