The clinical models being considered, dealing with Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, and Kidderminster Hospital sites:
MODEL A
No change, with the three sites staying as they are, providing services they currently offer. NHS clinicians believe this is not workable due to increasing service demand and a forecast shortage of qualified staff.
MODEL B
Two acute hospital sites each with a full A&E, women and children’s services on one site. One hospital treatment centre with a minor injuries unit (MIU). NHS clinicians say this is not practical, again due to a forecast shortage of qualified staff.
MODEL C
One acute hospital site with full A&E, one acute hospital with a walk-in urgent care centre, one hospital treatment centre with MIU. NHS clinicians believe this model could work.
MODEL D
One acute hospital site with full A&E, one hospital site providing planned surgery, and one hospital treatment centre, also with planned surgery and with an MIU. NHS clinicians believe this model could work.
MODEL E
One acute hospital with full A&E, one hospital providing planned surgery and an MIU, also handling out-patients and diagnostics at the third location. NHS clinicians believe this model could work.
MODEL F
One acute hospital site with full A&E, with MIU, out-patients and diagnostics in two other locations. NHS clinicians believe this model could work.
