UPDATE (11.20am): All train services are now back to normal.

A MAN has been killed on the railway line between Worcester Shrub Hill and Pershore.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Shrub Hill station just after 9am today, where they confirmed the man had died. It is understood that the report was made by a train driver, and the victim had possibly "fallen from a height".

A replacement bus service running on First Great Western between Worcester Shrub Hill and Cheltenham Spa, and between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford, had been in operation for a short period.

Normal service has since been resumed.

Statement from British Transport Police (11.30am)

"BTP and West Mercia Police officers attended the line near to Lark Hill Road, Worcester, on Wednesday, 20 June, following a report of a body on the tracks.

“Medics also attended but the man, believed to have injuries consistent with having fallen from a height, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident, which was reported to BTP at 8.54am by the driver of First Great Western’s 0826hrs Worcester Foregate Street - London Paddington service, is currently being treated as unexplained.

“Officers are currently working to establish the man’s identity and the full circumstances leading up to his death.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
