SIR – There has been some negative publicity recently regarding Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
The following story may redress the balance and, more crucially, make people aware that all is not bad within those walls.
It began for me on Saturday, June 2, the start of our Jubilee weekend.
From nowhere I had a problem with blood getting to my left foot. It went ice cold and a very funny colour.
After a quick visit to the walk-in doctor, I was on my way to accident and emergency for a checkover with the vascular team on duty.
I was admitted at once and various procedures were started. To cut the story short I was in vascular and surgical HDU Severn ward all week where the team from ward sister/manager all the way through to her nursing staff were totally committed, sincere and tireless in their work.
Equally marvellous were the clinical investigation crew, led by consultant radiologist Dr Santhosh Vijay, and his team.
The upshot was that a terrific team of people saved my foot and, who knows, maybe more. I have been very lucky and I know others will be too.
