A WORCESTER man was arrested after calling police officers “pigs” and refusing to stop hurling abuse after being warned.
Mark Walker, aged 21, of Rose Avenue, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place when he appeared before Worcester magistrates.
Prosecutor Sarah Stock said police had been on patrol in the city just after midnight on Sunday, June 10.
As they passed along Broad Street, Walker shouted “pigs” at them, and the officers stopped to talk to Walker and his friends.
Mrs Stock said that PC Smart tried to issue him with a dispersal order, to give him a chance to go home, but Walker continued to shout abuse and say that he was going to go and have another drink. He was then arrested.
Mark Turnbull, for Walker, said that he accepted he had been drinking but denied shouting anything at the officers.
He said Walker felt aggrieved at the way he was treated by the officers.
District judge Nigel Cadbury fined Walker, who is unemployed, £70 with £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
