A MAN was hit on the head and kicked unconscious during a robbery in Ledbury.

The 32-year-old victim was walking along Oakland Drive on Thursday, June 28, at about 8.45pm when he was attacked from behind and his bag was stolen.

Police have released an e-fit of a man they want to speak to in connection with the robbery, who was described as white but tanned, aged between 35 and 40, about 6ft tall and of muscular build.

He had dark hair and was wearing a white v-necked t-shirt, blue jeans and dark coloured footwear at the time of the offence.

The victim had walked from Biddulph Way onto Oakland Drive when an unknown man passed him in the opposite direction.

The man stopped and the victim then became aware of other people behind him.

He was hit to the back of the head without warning, which caused him to fall to the ground.

PC Charlotte Wells, investigating, said: “Having fallen to the ground the victim was aware that someone was trying to steal his bag.

“The victim tried to keep hold of it but he believes was then kicked in the face - a blow that caused him to lose consciousness.

“When the victim came round a short time later his bag was missing and he immediately made his way home before calling the police.”

Among the items in the black JAPSAP rucksack were an Apple iPhone 4S with a Star Wars cover on the back, a black and grey wallet containing about £23 cash and a ticket for a Stone Roses concert.

Anyone with information about the robbery or who recognises the man pictured in the e-fit should call West Mercia Police on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting reference number 0952-S-280612, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
