THE founder of Pershore and District Royal Naval Association has been honoured at a ceremony to celebrate the branch’s 10th anniversary.
Members joined together to the sounds of bugler Alice Bull, a student at Pershore High School, for a wartime singalong and to celebrate the milestone.
The service was led by branch chaplain Canon Richard Etheridge and following the event National RNA chairman Chris Dovey presented Ted Annis, who started the branch and has chaired it for the last 10 years, with a lifetime membership.
His wife Margaret also received the top Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of her hard work and support.
Mr Annis said: “I had absolutely no idea what was coming.
"Margaret and I are so genuinely touched to have these awards and it’s all I can do not to cry.
“We take supporting our troops, Remembrance and the Poppy Appeal very seriously but we also like to have some fun which is what I think makes our branch so successful.”
