A MAN was left with a broken nose and fractured cheek after being subjected to two attacks on the Riverside Walk.

The man, who is in his 30s, was treated in hospital for a range of head and facial injuries after the seemingly unprovoked incidents on Friday.

He was first assaulted at about 10.40pm near to the Diglis Hotel, when walking along the towpath from Quay Street towards Diglis, when he passed a group of three men walking in the opposite direction.

One of the group ran towards him and kicked him in the chest, knocking him to the ground. All three then kicked him several times, especially to the head.

Nothing was said or stolen and they walked away towards the city centre.

The man made his way to the Diglis Hotel garden but when he could not see anyone he walked back the way he came and saw the same three men by the benches next to the fountains and Browns Hotel on Quay Street.

He was charged by the man who first attacked him and was again kicked to the floor and kicked to the head several times by all three.

PC Matthew Harris, from Worcester Police Station, said: "No threats were made and nothing was stolen from the victim despite him having his phone in his hand.

"The first attack was completely random, unprovoked and very violent. The second, on a man who was already injured and disorientated, was cruel and vicious.

"We need to find this group of men, who are clearly casual about their use of violence, and I urge anyone who has any information about this attack or who recognises the description of the offenders to contact West Mercia Police."

The three men are said to be Asian and in their late 20s or early 30s.

The main offender was 5ft 9ins tall, of a stocky, athletic build and had short swept-back black hair. He was wearing shiny grey tracksuit bottoms, a dark blue or black hooded top and light coloured trainers.

The second man was around 6ft 1ins tall, skinny and had black hair, cut with short back and sides and was wearing dark clothing.

The third man was about 5ft 9ins, of average build and was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information can call PC Harris via the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident 812s 06/07/12, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
