THE theft of two cars in Stourport overnight are being linked by police.

A VW Scirocco, registration OY10 RUH, was seen being driven away from a property in Hanstone Road at about 11.55pm last night and blue BMW, registration C8 MLO, was taken from Wesley Avenue between 10.30pm last night and 5.30am this morning.

It is believed the thieves may have pushed a long handled implement through the letterbox of the VW owner's home to hook the keys for the car off the stairs.

DS Marc Sanders of West Mercia Police said: “We are looking into whether these incidents are linked and would like to hear from anyone who saw either of the cars being taken or thinks they may have seen them since Sunday evening.

“We would remind residents not to leave keys on show where they can be easily accessed. It only takes a few moments for an offender to reach through an open window, door or letter box to reach keys and you would be none the wiser until you noticed your car gone.”

Anyone with information on the thefts should call DS Sanders on 03003 333000, quoting incident 8-S-080712, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
