A WORCESTER man was among those drumming up support for a world record attempt in the name of charity.
Mike Clarke, who chairs the city’s branch of the MS Society, was one of more than 800 drummers who assembled in Manchester on Sunday to take part in Stick It To MS.
Their aim was to break a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest full drum kit ensemble and raise funds for the charity at the same time.
The 70-year-old said: “It was important to be here to raise funds to MS research. I was hoping I’d be the oldest drummer here too.”
More than 700 drummers played a basic rock beat in time for five minutes and beat the 2009 world record which saw 582 drummers raising £66,000 for the MS Society. It is hoped this year’s event will raise £80,000 for the charity.
