A DRUM-maker from Malvern is banging on the door of the big time after linking up with one of the region’s best-loved festivals.

Musician Carl Haffield, aged 27, was asked if he would supply drum kits for the main stage at last weekend’s Two Thousand Trees festival in Gloucestershire.

Mr Haffield has been making his own drum kits for more than a decade and his skills first started to be noticed when he played as part of Malvern band the Fallout Theory.

He started to make kits for other musicians and, in 2007, founded AD Drums.

His big break with Two Thousand Trees, which attracts about 3,500 revellers, came after organisers and sound technicians heard bands using his kits on stage last year.

He eagerly accepted a request to build kits for this year’s event, while he also offered his services as a drum technician throughout the weekend.

Mr Haffield will also be exhibiting at the prestigious London Drum Show in October.

He said: “It’s fantastic to be getting these invitations. This is the first time I’ve linked up with a festival such as this and the London Drum Show is the biggest show going. It’s nice to turn some heads.”
