THE unsuspecting driver of this delivery van came a cropper at a ford swollen by recent floodwater.

The UPS van was left ditched in almost 4ft of water in the lane in Kempsey, near Worcester, yesterday. A tow truck had to pull it out.

David Harrison, a councillor who lives in nearby Brookend Lane, said the ford was difficult to avoid for people who didn’t know the area.

He said: “There is a sign about a quarter-of-a-mile back along the road, but you come around the corner and you’re right on top of it.

“You can see the driver has tried to brake, but he’s hit the mud on the downslope and gone straight in.”

Susan Rosenberg, of UPS in Atlanta, USA, said: “It may be that some packages may need inspecting, and then be sent on their way.

“Shipping customers can track their parcels online, while receiving customers will need to get their tracking information to check where their parcels are.”
