Man, 70, jailed for sex assaults on young girls

A PENSIONER who preyed on three young horse riders after befriending them at stables he rented out has been jailed for 15 months for sex crimes.
Joseph Bibby abused one girl from the age of 14 for three years, touching her and putting his hand into her clothing.
He spent nine months molesting another 14-year-old, telling her dirty jokes and asking her to perform sexual acts, which she refused.
The third victim, aged 17, was persuaded to get into the 70-year-old’s bed where he held her down and put his hands on her chest, said Peter Grice, prosecuting at Worcester Crown Court.
One victim had been told that Bibby had allegedly killed a horse with anti-freeze – and she feared the same would happen to her animal.
Bibby, who lived in a flat in Wychbold Grange, Wychbold, pleaded guilty to three specimen counts of sexual assault.
Judge Robert Juckes QC described him as a “skilled, manipulative and calculated predator” who had carried out persistent offences on young women.
He passed a sexual offences prevention order forbidding the defendant from having any contact with girls under the age of 16.
In 1997 Bibby was jailed for three years for acts of gross indecency with children as young as 10.
Mr Grice said the latest offences began in 2009 at stables which Bibby rented for his own horses and sub-let to other horse owners.
He hugged and kissed the first girl when she was 14, touched her thighs and told her to keep it a secret.
When she was 15, he touched her over her clothing in his van and looked down her top, making references to her body.
He let her drive the van round the yard at 16, but took the opportunity to put his hand into her clothing, said Mr Grice.
He touched the second victim while holding her in a head-lock and pinched her.
The 17-year-old met Bibby in January this year. He bought her a pair of £130 riding boots. He touched her over her clothing more than 50 times. He also warned her that he came from a travelling family and would “ruin her life” if she divulged what was going on.
Two of the girls went to the police in May. At first Bibby denied the allegations.
Defending, Nick Berry said Bibby recognised he was sexually attracted to young women.
He suffered from a heart problem, had been the victim of a minor stroke two years ago and would lose his home while in jail. The impact of prison would be “significant on a man of 70.”
