AN internet singing sensation who has not left her home in more than three years has released her first official single.

Agoraphobic Jemma Pixie Hixon hopes Never Let Go, released on Wednesday, can enter the charts and draw attention to her condition.

It was created with DJ 5parks, who produced the instrumental, and her vocals were recorded on a laptop in her bedroom.

The 21-year-old lives with her parents in Great Malvern and her previous videos have gained about 12 millions views on YouTube.

She said: “It would be amazing if people bought my single, it does have chart eligibility, so it’s up to everyone who’s supported me and followed me to help make the single do as well as possible.

“It would be a huge honour if it did well and I hope it would inspire other agoraphobics, or anyone at all for that matter, that you don’t have to give up or let anything get in the way of your dreams.”

Of the track, Miss Hixon said: “The real inspiration behind the piece were people who I’ve lost in my life as well as for everyone out there who has lost someone.

“I was so captured when I first heard the instrumental. With nothing more than the intended theme I found myself with my pen to paper writing out the verses and chorus and by the end of listening to the song for the first time I pretty much had it finished.”

Miss Hixon has suffered from panic attacks and anxiety since the age of six but finds music a soothing influence. She said: “Music is the thing that helps me escape and makes me happy, whether it’s singing, writing or simply listening to it.

“When I’m feeling particularly anxious I like to try to focus on writing a sort of stream of consciousness which I then adapt into lyrics.

“Singing is something that keeps me going and something I have done since I can remember.”

The single is available from sites such as iTunes, Amazon and HMV.
